phot fest

Here are some photo's of the finished work this week. First are some plain socks for Lindsay she has been waiting a long time for them so I just sat down and did them. I do like how the yarn pools and then stripes very clever..

This is the smock a rouche scarf from one skein wonders book. The smocking looks so good but unfortunately the photo doesn't do it justice.

And finally a pair of Bremen socks just cast on

And some photos of Basil in the snow today he was very brave when he had his stitches out and will soon be able to be out and about with out a tee shirt (stops him chewing his scar a bit)

Red of course didn't join in he is much to mature and dignified Bless. Basil will be going home on friday and I must say he will be missed for lots of reasons and yes they are all good ones. I love a dog with charactor and he has it in buckets I am so lucky to get involved with BARKING MAD.

Well Basil has been here over a week now and he is such a charactor that it seems as if he has always lived with us. He is so good off the lead and has had lots and lots of hill walks this week. The lovely snow has made it so nice to go out with both my boys...(Red and Basil).

To watch these two is a lesson on life. Basil is the young energetic, dashing here there and wanting to have attention and praise. So like us humans when we are in the teen years. He also gets this gleam in his eye and you know he is about to be a wee monkey..(Kevin the teenager comes to mind). Where as Red is slower more dignified. Happy to run around on his terms and allow Basil to join in but when he thinks it is too silly he just doesn't bother. He looks down his long nose at the wee rascal and seems to say "CHILL" and we Basil stops for a moment before bouncing off again saying "please please play? Go on Go on Play play!!!" Oh for the energy of the young he seems to think and then he looks from Basil to me and Rob and justs sighs... It is so so funny.

We have not always taken the camera much to my shame as the photo's would have been excellent on the loop around Glen Kin on Sunday morning. It was nice a crispy and sunny. We got home in time for the Scotland Rugby match and the snow then came down and down and we have got a lovely covering of snow...

On the knitting front well I have finished the socks for Lindsay just some plain socks made with Regia sock yarn bought ages ago. I have some left over so just trying to make a wee pair for Emily but will see if there is enough. Sock one done.

I am also making the smock a ruche scarf from one skein wonders in some wool ease in green heather which I got as a swap present. It is lovely and soft and nice to knit with. I took it along yesterday to the rural knitting group and found that as usual I couldn't follow a pattern while talking and I need to frog the last smock section back BAH Humbug!! I am about half way thro this project.

My thinking is that if I can get some things done when they are not needed I will be ahead of pressie making!!!

It is February 10th and for outlander forum members on Ravelry it is clan assignment day. I am in Clan beauchamp as before and I already have my new clan avitar a lovely dragonfly pendant. Not sure how to get the picture onto here so if you want to see it please feel free to go along and look in Ravelry.

Health and energy have been a bit hit and miss for months now and I am not sure what more I can do to help this but I am hoping that all this snow and frost will kill of some of the awful bugs which are about and that alone will help all of us who have lowered immune systems.

I was sent this video clip yesterday by a mountain biking friend and I must say it really made me remember it isn't what you can do or can't do but how you are with your self and others that really makes you happy. I am hoping I get this link on correctly so here's hoping.

Basil comes with a rush....

Well Basil the 3 ish Lurcher came to stay curtesy of Barking Mad and Marion and Allistair. As the title of this says he came and made a real big impression. Within minutes of arriving and before he met Red and Freya (my greyhound and my daughters) he charged into the garden catching his side on a garden bench and ripped a big hole in his side....

This photo shows how Basil looked after all the rush to the vets, stitches and a whole night with no sleep. His scar will be very neat but his hair will not be regrown by the time his mum and dad get back from spain...He is one very brave boy and very adorable I will update you very soon with more of the Basil diaries I think they are going to be very very eventful... watch this space.

Dragonfly

Hurrah I have managed to finish the dragonfly socks that I was doing as part of the KAL and read along on the Outlander forum on Ravelry. Here are a couple of pictures of the socks with edna my darling wheel.

This has been a very lovely week I managed to get to all three knitting groups and knit and not frog down my work when I got home.

I also managed to say hello and goodbye to a friend in the last week. Gale came back from South Africa for a brief visit and it was so very nice to see here and to catch up on all her news and how she is settling in. Really lovely. The goodbye was not bad as it involved a lovely new mum friend who is back home to America to visit family and friends for a month. They will have a lovely time but it was with a wee sadness that I said goodbye last thursday silly I know but that is how it is.

I have also signed up with twitter this week and I am just getting to grips with this. I see that it seems to encourage those looking for high number of friends to try and pull you in but I am determined not to get drawn in to this. I have found a couple of interesting people to follow and find it fascinating.

I am now a host for Barking Mad http://www.barkingmad.uk.com/hostfamilies.html this is a lovely way to see other dogs and get a bit of wool money for me. In this ecconomic climate I need to find wool funds. Anyway the lovely Bazil is coming to stay on Sunday for a couple of weeks and Red should love that. Will post photo's with Red and Freya next time.

Well it is time to get organised for the weekend of family and friends so must dash hope to be back before long.

ops its now 2009 and this is first blog!!

Well it is now 2009 and I have only just managed to get to the blog. It is not the writting that keeps me back but the sorting of the photo's so I can post them I am so slow at this stuff. Anyway here are some pics of the work I have done this month so far.

This is a wee wrap for new baby Thomas who came along a couple of weeks early and caught us all out. He is gorgeous and I am so looking forward to seeing him soon. This is knit from a pattern I got out of The Wheel and it is knit in one piece and is done in 3ply. I love it.

I also knitted a wee sleep sack and hats and mitts the hat and mitts are very wee but the sleepsack will last him for a long time..

what do you all think? I knitted this with double knit wool and also used the odd row of variegated yarn too. Not knowing it was Thomas and not a girl baby meant I went for something very neutral and then whipped up the wee blue wrap after he was born.

I have also managed to finish one Dragonfly pattern sock for my KAL with the outlander group. It caused amusment because it seems to have two heels!!! but feels ok on. I haven't frogged it yet because I decided to wait and see what I did wrong and see if I do it again so I can get help... anyway here is a couple of photo's

Edna has arrived

well last Thursday saw Ali and I going to meet Janet to collect our new to us wheels. Mine is called Edna and Ali is thinking of a name at the moment.

Once we got out of the Hospital after an appointment to meet. We went to Cafe Continental and had a lovely meal of Macaronni and cheese with extra onion rings Yummy. They have half portions available but of course I didn't take it and neither did Ali.

We then went along to Flava to wait for our S&B group to start.

It was an early start due to some having to leave early coz their baby would be breaking the law if she stayed after 8 o'clock..And the lovely couple who were babysitting their friends daughter. We were all excited as it was secret santa night. Once we had all arrived Santa came and well what a lot of lovely and talented people give to santa. I was so lucky I got a lovely pair of fingerless mitts in Moss stitch (seed stitch) in 50 0/0 alpaca and 50 0/0 silk ........yummy. I also got a lovely long scarf in 100 0/0 wool both are in lovely shades the mitts a very blue red colour and the scarf is varigated reds and really lovely too.

I had a very sore throat on the night and I think most of the members found it amusing to see me struggling to get myself heard, so not normal for me...lol. This cold virus has taken its toll this winter and many of my friends have had real problems. I haven't improved and had some unexplained spots appear too that really are sore. Well visit to G.P. and well I have a case of the Shingles.................so on high doses of medication for the next week and must say finding the pain a bit more than sore so now having pain killers too.

Knitting this week is all about getting the kilt hose finished it has been such a mammoth task this time not sure why they are taking me so long. But got both to the heel turn and have now turned one and am along the foot so should get that finished tonight, tomorrow morning and then it is onto the last heel/foot and a wash tomorrow evening, blocking and drying and a very quick wrapping session on Thursday morning if not before.........Will take photos tomorrow and post them when I do.

I want to wish all my friends a very healthy and happy Christmas and well 2009 to be all they would like it to be.

Must start thinking about my New years resolutions.........any ideas..

Holiday when? Did I have one?

Odd title? No not really I have had a holiday and a wondeful one it was too but the world seems to have rushed in again a bit too quickly for me... So I am going to take a wee breath again tomorrow morning and go out with D.D. to Oban..... bliss.

Well the holiday at Loch Tay was wonderful we had really lovely snowy weather and well the frost kept crisp and lovely.

This is the view of the cottages one afternoon when the sun was low and lighting up the forest behind us.. Gorgeous or what..

We did lots of walks and I am not sure who was most tired one day me or Red. We were so lucky on that walk we got to be quite close to a soaring Red Kite. Rob and I were breathless with its beauty and serenity up above our frozen world. Red was not impressed think he thought it was his out of fit mum wanting a break in the walk to catch her breath...lol. Not that time but most times he would be correct. This walk was a bit of an impromptue one and well after a good 4 miles we came across an 8 foot deer fence and locked gate. Now locked gate and tall style and a greyhound.... Well after much scratching of heads, walking along fences etc we eventually lifted the gate of its hinges. Got Red through and then it was a good 10mins trying to put the blasted thing back on the hinges... Anyway off we trudged again....

Here is a photo of the two of us carrying on with the walk while Rob was taking some photo's of the fantastic views. Then after another half a mile we came across exactly the same a big fence and a big locked gate. Then hinges were rusted on but we did manage to find a smallish hole in one of the fences and picked up and pushed poor we Red through it much to his disgust he is one regal boy and this was definately below his dignity..

Will find some photo's of the regal boy soon promise. Anyway the walk finished it took 3 hours for 5 3/4miles and I was proud of how well I managed the first hill climb in the snow and ice without my walking poles (yes I forgot them again).

The holiday was just what we both needed time away from clients and just walking eating drinking and vegging.. The eating and drinking was helped by the wonderful Kenmore Hotel which allowed dogs in the bar area and had a super big log fire for Red and his mummy and daddy to relax in front of. Across from our cottage was a lovely food and gifts place called the Courtyard and well lots of christmas presents got bought there as well as a highlight of the week dinner for Rob Haggis Lasgne he loved it sounds strange but recommended by him..The rest of the time we just sat read books ( I of course knitted and knitted) . We had a couple of trips out in the car and went to Avimore, Pitlochry and Queens view (this was followed by a lively stop at Posttaste, at Kinloch Rannock. A wee postoffice which has diversified to a cafe with licence and on this occasion was holding the local ladies group christmas lunch. I can only say as a member of a Asbo group they would also quallify...lol.

The final thought and memory about the cottage was the size of its bed..!!!!!! one of the biggest beds I have ever seen... Wow you could have fitted the whole Scotland Rugby team and us in it... lol.

Back home well I have been to my Gallery knitting group who have all been busy with their holiday knitting while I was away but also doing Teddies for Tragedies here are a few photos of the girls and the teddies too.

I then went to the christmas meal at the Rural last night and was a member of the winning quiz team but got knocked out of musical arms quite quickly.... Santa came to see us and well lets just say he was a big tall stranger who had a wicked sense of humour..

Today after a 2 hour wait to see the doctor just to be told to call back the next day... And finding that I have got one very cold house. The holiday just seems to be long ago..

but sharing some of this with you my mates well it has reminded me of all the fun I had and do have all the time. I just hope that my Uncle George gets better very very quickly.
